The first pitch of Major League Baseball’s regular season is thrown Sunday, March 31, at 8pm ET on ESPN as the Texas Rangers visit the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park. It’s the first season of American League ball for the Astros, who’ve moved from the NL Central to the AL West. The AL and NL now have 15 teams each, and each of MLB’s six divisions are comprised of five clubs for the first time. As a result, there will be interleague games played throughout the entire season.

MLB’s 2013 begins in earnest on Monday, April 1, and ESPN and ESPN2 are combining for four nationally televised games featuring some of the majors’ marquee teams. First up, baseball’s biggest rivals meet in the Bronx as the Boston Red Sox visit the New York Yankees, followed by the World Series champion San Francisco Giants at the Los Angeles Dodgers, both on ESPN. In prime time on ESPN2, the Philadelphia Phillies visit the Atlanta Braves, followed by the St. Louis Cardinals at the Ari ona Diamondbacks.

Sunday Night Baseball then returns on ESPN2 April 7 with the finale of a three-game series between the Los Angeles Angels and the Texas Rangers at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The Angels poached the offseason’s top free-agent hitter, Josh Hamilton, from the Rangers. Hamilton joins a stacked lineup that already includes Albert Pujols and Mike Trout. The Rangers’ solid starting rotation — including Cy Young Award contender Yu Darvish — look to baffle the Halos’ hitters.

ESPN’s new Monday Night Baseball crew – Dave O’Brien, Rick Sutcliffe, Aaron Boone and reporter Tim Kurkjian – debut Monday, April 1, with the Red Sox vs. the Yankees at 1pm ET on ESPN. Wednesday Night Baseball will have a rotating commentator lineup with a variety of ESPN MLB play-by-play announcers and analysts. Sean McDonough, Mark Mulder and Doug Glanville will broadcast the Phillies vs. Braves game Monday on ESPN2.
