Netflix has picked up the series Sense8 from the Andy and Lana Wachowskis, the creative sister and brother behind such films as âThe Matrixâ, âCloud Atlasâ and the upcoming Warner Bros.â project âJupiter Ascendingâ with actors Tatum Channing (Magic Mike) and Mila Kunis (O : The Great and Powerul).
The siblingâs latest project is a sci-fi thriller, according to Entertainment Weekly, that has been described as âa gripping global tale of minds linked and souls hunted.â Netflix has ordered ten episodes of the series that is slated to premiere late next year on the video-on-demand service. Babylon 5âs J. Michael Strac ynski will serve as show runner of the series.
The premise behind the siblingâs first ever television venture was developed after the two were talking late one night âseveral years agoâ about the pros and cons of technology. âOut of that paradox âSense8â was born,â the creators said in a statement.
The âSense8â series joins Netflixâs slate of blossoming original content such as Jenji Kohanâs (Weeds) âOrange is the New Blackâ, âHemlock Groveâ and the resurrected comedy âArrested Developmentâ that will debut this coming summer.
