Warning: Full spoilers from the episode to follow.
Walt Miller, we hardly knew ye. Just a few episodes after “A Father’s Love,” it was time to say goodbye to Nick’s dad as the gang took a trip to the Windy City for his funeral. While this episode was dealing with a pretty heavy subject matter, the cold open set the tone for what would become a surprisingly lighthearted episode. Helium balloon voices are nothing new to the realm of televised comedy, but never has it been employed so effectively as when Jess, Schmidt and Winston were forced to offer their condolences in silly munchkin voices.
From there, we were introduced to the rest of Nick’s cra y family, including his mother Bonnie (Justified and The Americans’ Margo Martindale), his younger brother Jamie (Nick Kroll) and his Boston cousin Bobby (Bill Burr).
