Grimm Season 2 Review “Mr. Sandman” Free on klikvideo.com

This week’s Grimm may have been one of the grossest they’ve ever done. The beast of the week was a fly-like man who blinded his victim by blowing sand into their eyes, making them cry, and then sucking on their eyeballs with his nasty, slimy tongue. If that wasn’t bad enough, Fly-man also deposited African parasites onto the victims’ eyes, and the only way to stop him was to scoop out his eye with a spoon and ground it into a paste. Blech.

Though most of the action centered on Fly-man, the episode did an excellent job of advancing the other storylines. Adalind went to visit a gypsy-looking Wesen and told her about her pregnancy. Adalind said that the father is Renard and his brother. It’s unclear how exactly that works. Is she pregnant with twins? Do royal children need two fathers? The meeting resulted in further intrigue as to what Adalind needs the gypsy to help her with and in what way the offspring will be “valuable.”

There’s been a major focus on Renard since the season continued, which made sense. It was good, though, that they took a break this week from his drama. We checked in with him briefly and learned that he was not fully cured from the Juliette love spell. Instead, he faces his own ghosts. He woke up to find Juliette in his bed. It wasn’t the real Juliette, of course. The woman morphed into a scary old crone. Who knows what that is all about, but no doubt we’ll get more information before the end of the season.

It’s only a matter of time before Juliette wants Nick back in the house since her place is such a creep-fest. The ghostly image returned and floated around her house. She saw at the end that the ghost is an image of Nick. The most likely explanation is that these are her memories trying to come back. Juliette regaining her memories would be a good thing. She’d get back all the memories and feelings she had for Nick, but at the same time would still have the memories of all her recent weird experiences. Since she’s seen this alternative vision of the world, it would be more palatable for her to accept what Nick previously tried to explain to her – that he is a Grimm.

It was nice to see Rosalee and Juliette together. The two have never had a friendship, and it would be great if they bonded and had girl adventures. Especially if Juliette is going to become part of this world, she will need someone other than Nick to be paired up with.

There were some great technical moments in the episode. It was a creative detail to have Fly-man move fast and smack at the windows. The fight scene between Nick and Fly-man was also fun. The only problem with that sequence was that it would have be better with less fast motion, jerky camera movement so we could see the fight better. It looks like Nick’s super powers are in full force since he can now fight blind. Did the worms give him a super power upgrade or is it his innate Grimm-ness coming to the surface?
