Note: Full spoilers for the episode follow.
I really liked how the Lexi storyline in this episode played out. Not because I was happy to see what Damon did to Lexi – far from it, that bastard! – but because for much of the episode it was bugging me seeing Lexi and Damon bond. After all, Damon casually killed Lexi the first time we saw her, and this seemed to make that flippant decision all the more glaring.
But the end directly addressed that. Damon explaining to Elena that he eventually felt horrible guilt over what he did to Lexi and, being Damon, decided “out of sight, out of mind” was his best tactic, was a nice (albeit tragic) addition to what already stood out as a particularly tragic death on this show. Though it certainly makes me a bit more pissed at Damon – not only did he kill his brother’s best friend, but he personally badly hurt her, emotionally! Freaking Damon…
