Mariah Carey won’t be sitting at the judges’ table next season on American Idol.
Her publicists confirmed the news of the singer’s exit via Twitter today in a tweet that read “W/ global success of “#Beautiful” (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol.” Carey retweeted the message shortly after it was posted. This was Carey’s first (and now only) season as an Idol judge.
As previously reported, long-time Idol judge Randy Jackson has decided to depart the series after 12 seasons. It is unclear whether or not third Idol judge Keith Urban will return for season three. “I’m pretty much in the same boat as everybody else here with the rumors that have been floating around,” Urban recently told the Associated Press. “I donât know anything more about whatâs happening next season.”
Although several names have been rumored, there is no news yet on who will be filling the empty judges’ seats next season. Who do you think should take Carey’s place?
