Arrow: "The Huntress Returns" Review Free on klikvideo.com

The Arrow writers didn’t waste a great deal of time before bringing The Huntress back into the fold. Unfortunately, they might have been better off letting that open plot thread simmer for a while longer. Jessica De Gouw’s return as the crossbow-wielding vigilante was disappointing in several respects. But more than anything, it was frustrating to see the direction the writers have chosen to go with her character.


The initial two-parter that introduced Helena Bertinelli had the formula down right. She was driven by tragedy and sought revenge against her father and his men for the murder of her fiancee. If her methods were wrong, at least her position was understandable. But this episode twisted all that to the point where Helena no longer had any sympathetic qualities left. She threatened physical harm against Ollie’s family and wounded Tommy. She murdered half a do en FBI agents for no reason other than that they were doing their jobs and protecting a prisoner. And when Ollie couldn’t bring himself to put her down, she rewarded him by critically wounding his girlfriend. At this point there’s really nothing separating her from the various other villains Ollie has targeted over the course of the season. It’s a bad sign when the conclusion merely left me disappointed that she escaped and not excited at the prospect of another Huntress-centric episode.
