With U.K. shows The Office, The Inbetweeners, Coupling and Free Agents all getting American remakes, it looks like another sitcom will be travelling in the opposite direction.
The BBC reports that comedians Lee Mack and Catherine Tate are to star in a British version of Everybody Loves Raymond, the hit CBS show that starred Ray Romano and ran from 1996 to 2005.
The comedy will be renamed The Smiths, set in Cheshire, and “follow a successful sports-writer who lives across the street from his overbearing parents.”
Mack is writing, with the pilot set to shoot on May 28 and screen on BBC One later in the year.
