As the Season 9 finale approaches, Grey’s Anatomy continues to ramp up the drama for what I’m sure will be an explosive season end. Unsurprisingly, Bailey continued to struggle with the fallout from the investigation last week. The normally outgoing, outspoken doctor had become an out right recluse, holing herself up in a lab. When the doctors could not get her to open up, including a failed attempt at a bathroom ambush, they finally called in reinforcements. Had anyone else forgotten that Bailey was married? I sure did. It was heartbreaking to watch her reveal what she was up to in the lab – testing herself for every strain of disease to make sure she’d never harm another patient. Sad.
Speaking of forgotten “significant others,” we were reminded that Jackson and Stephanie were having relationship of some sort before his mom “bought” him a hospital. Although I’m sure some of his lapse in relationship duties is due to his increased role at the hospital, I would also attribute it to those unresolved feelings for April. Interestingly, Jackson declined an invitation for drinks with April and pulled Stephanie in for a smooch instead of dumping her. I’m still not buying it.
Speaking of complicated relationships and triangles (or are Jackson/April/others a square?), Callie looks to have a bit of competition this week from Dr. Lauren. Watch out, Callie!
I knew Jason was a jerk, but I was shocked to see that he is an abusive jerk. I fully expect to see Jason walk away with more than a black eye after he’s face to face with Alex again.
Finally, the story of Owen and the adorable Ethan continued to escalate this week. As Ethan waited for his dad to finally awaken, Owen encouraged him to spend more time with his grandmother. Of course, Ethan would rather spend his time with Owen instead of grandma. He further underscored this point by overdosing on his grandmother’s sleeping pills, which led her to declare herself unfit as a parent. With the Ethan’s dad showing no improvement, it is looking more and more like Owen will have himself a tiny new roommate any week now.
What did you think of this week’s Grey’s Anatomy? Is it a pretty safe bet that Jason may be an admitted patient soon? Is Ari ona going to partake in the forbidden fruit? Haven’t they been through enough this season? Sound off below!
