The Vampire Diaries Season 5 will premiere on Thursday, October 10.
And with so long to wait until a new episode, and with the spoiler mill quiet at the moment, let’s take a few moments and relive Season 4 once again… awards style!
Who was the Most Valuable Player in Mystic Falls? The Least Valuable? What was the most clutch move? Scroll down now and help us hand out The Vampire Diaries Post-Season 4 Awards…
MVP: Elena Gilbert. The season revolved around this newly-turned vampire, as her emotions and state of mind drove everyone around her. When she was feeling too much? Her friends rallied. When she stopped feeling anything at all, her friends cowered (and waitresses died). When she felt true emotion for Damon, she wouldn’t take no for an answer – and an entire fan base swooned.
LVP: Tyler Lockwood. Sorry, dude. You’ve gotta be in it to win it. We know Klaus threatened your life and all, but is that any excuse for leaving Caroline Forbes all alone with that same hybrid?
Most Clutch Play: You’re looking at it. When Elena burned down her house, she made a strong decision and went in a definitive direction with her life. For many years prior, critics often slammed her for not doing the same when it came to Stefan and Damon.
Sixth Man of the Year: Elijah. An easy choice. Never a starter, his time off the bench was always well used, with the series, ethical Original simply owning every scene in which he appeared.
Most Improved: Rebekah. From a whiner to a winner (of Matt’s heart). This sibling truly made fans feel for her on The Vampire Diaries Season 4, layering her contempt for Elena and her brothers with a very soft side, one that made her stand out as someone for whom we’re actually now rooting.
Coach of the Year: Caroline Forbes. She diagrammed plays for the prom, for graduation and every other event on the town calendar. Her peppy pep talks continue to inspire every week.
Scoring Champion: Matt Donovan. He only actually bedded one woman, but it was Rebekah. And she pursued him. That’s like a 360 slam dunk.
Rebound Champion: Stefan. He lost out on Elena. But he did bounce back and sleep with Rebekah. He also got to hang with Lexi, who is simply awesome even with her clothes on.
Rookie of the Year: Silas. Hard to argue with his impact, considering he concluded the year by locking Stefan in a safe, tossing him overboard and taking over his identity. Dude also was responsible for A LOT of people dying.
