Downton Abbey has cast its first African-American character.
Gary Carr will recur on Season 4 as Jack Ross, a ja singer who ITV describes as “charming and charismatic,” while producer Gareth Neame has confirmed the news via the following statement:
“We are delighted to introduce another fantastic, dynamic character to Downton Abbey. His addition will bring interesting twists to the drama which we can’t wait for viewers to see in Series Four.”
Downton Abbey Season 4 is filming now in Great Britain and will air overseas later this year.
Other new cast members set to come on board include Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Tom Cullen, Julian Ovenden, Nigel Harman, Joanna David and Dame Harriet Walter. Shirley MacLaine will also return as Martha Levinson.
