Last night’s (March 31) broadcast of “El Superclasico” — the highly anticipated Chivas vs America 2013 soccer matchup — averaged nearly 2.6 million total viewers for Telemundo, the network announced. This was a delivery of 35% growth over last year’s Chivas vs America broadcast. Adults 18-49 accounted for nearly 1.6 million of the audience, a 22% growth versus the Chivas vs America broadcast last year.
The highest-rated Liga MX match on Telemundo local stations this year, the Superclasico matchup of Chivas vs America 2013 was the top-rated telecast among Adults 18-49 in the time period in Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles and San Francisco, regardless of language. Likewise, Chivas vs America was ranked No. 1 program in the time period among total viewers in Spanish-language television in Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Phoenix and San Francisco. The match also registered a 108% growth in total viewers versus the Superclasico broadcast by Telemundo last year in New York, as well as 101% growth in San Francisco, 76% in Dallas, 60% in Miami, 46% in Chicago and 45% in Los Angeles.
According to a report this morning from SocialGuide, which monitors how TV programs are talked about on social media like Twitter, the Superclasico Chivas vs America 2013 was the eighth-most social program on television last night among All Programs. In Primetime, it was No. 6, and among Sporting Events it was No. 5.
America defeated Chivas 2-0 in last night’s Superclasico as Raul Jimene (pictured) scored twice in the second half.
