ABC Family has added another new one-hour drama – Chasing Life – to its roster of original programming. The cabler will present the new series ‘The Fosters’, ‘Twisted’ and ‘Ravenswood’ this year with ‘Chasing Life’ expected in early 2014.

‘Chasing Life’ is adapted from the successful Televisa Spanish-language Mexican television series ‘Terminales’ that will follow twenty-something April (Italia Ricci from ‘Unnatural History’), a smart and quick witted aspiring journalist who is trying to work her way up the ladder at a Boston newspaper by trying to impress her hard-nosed editor. When not pursuing the latest scoop, April tries to balance her ambitious career with her family – her widowed mom Sara (Mary Page Keller from ‘NYPD Blue’), rebellious little sister Brenna (Haley Ramm from ‘Red State’) and her grandmother. Just as things start to look up at work, home and on the romance front with co-worker Dominic (Richard Brancatisano), April gets the devastating news from an estranged uncle that she has cancer.

The new ABC Family series will be executive produced by Aaron Kaplan (‘GCB’ and ‘Terra Nova’), Susanna Fogel and Joni Lefkowit (who both worked on the failed, but much-bu ed-about at the time pilot Washingtonienne); and again, is set to debut in early 2014.
