Ahead of next month’s upfront presentations, in which the networks will announce their new fall schedules, NBC has given a renewal order to five of their dramas: Revolution, Chicago Fire, Parenthood, Grimm and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
Each show has been given a 22-episode order for this coming fall with Jennifer Salke, President of NBC Entertainment having this share about the announcement, “On the verge of our 2013 fall scheduling decisions, weâre pleased to renew five drama series that will be important to our new season line-up. Weâre proud and very appreciative of all of the actors, producers, writers and directors who work so hard to deliver such high-quality work week in and week out. These complex shows represent a broad range of genres and tones, and all of them stand out for us in a television landscape now filled with one-hour series. Weâre especially pleased to be renewing ‘Revolution’ and ‘Chicago Fire’ â two first-season successes â and there will be more returning series announcements made in the next couple of weeks”.
As fans will recall, ‘Revolution’ is the post-apocalyptic series from Eric Kripke (‘Supernatural’), J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk (both of ‘Lost’), which debuted last fall that is the top-rated drama on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox and top-rated new series among those networks in the 18 to 49 adult demo. ‘Chicago Fire’ is the other freshman drama from Emmy-winning executive producer Dick Wolf that goes inside a Windy City firehouse and the lives of those who engage in one of our nationâs noblest professions.
Among the existing dramas that earned another season are:
‘Parenthood, which is the TV adaptation of the 1989 feature film that focuses on the colorful Braverman family that comes from Oscar winners Ron Howard and Brian Gra er (‘A Beautiful Mind’), Emmy winner Jason Katims (‘Friday Night Lights’) and Lawrence Trilling (‘Pushing Daisies’).
‘Grimm’, which is inspired by the classic Grimm Brothersâ fairy tales, focuses on the life of Seattle Police Detective Nick Burkhardt who inherits the ability to see supernatural creatures, comes from Stephen Carpenter, David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf.
‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’, which will enter its 15th season on the network, chronicles the life and crimes of the Special Victims Unit of the New York City Police Department, an elite squad of detectives who investigate sexually based crimes. This series also comes from Dick Wolf.
Congratulations are extended to cast and crew of each of these series.
