Netflix debuted a decidedly NSFW red band trailer for Hemlock Grove today that makes it clear the upcoming horror series isn’t kidding about the whole horror thing.
There’s blood, gruesome werewolf transformations, possession and what appears to be an alien of some sort…but it’s hard to say for sure given the sheer amount of cra y populating this town. If the series lives up to the insanity of its trailer it might be able to challenge American Horror Story in the cramming every horror trope known to genre fiction into one season department. One thing is for sure, this is definitely a world where it’s best to heed someone’s advice if they tell you to “run before it’s too late.”
Hemlock Grove isn’t just bringing the scares though. There’s also sex (lots of sex), drugs and even a dash of good old-fashioned character drama. It’s certainly not going to be fun for the whole family, but discerning genre fans might be in for a treat. Check out the trailer below (just remember, I wasn’t kidding when I said it was NSFW)!
From executive producer Eli Roth (Cabin Fever), Hemlock Grove is based on a novel by Brian McGreevy, and focuses on the mysterious death of a 17-year-old girl. The series stars Famke Janssen (X-Men), Dougray Scott (Desperate Housewives), Bill Skarsgård (Anna Karenina), and Landon Liboiron (Terra Nova).
All 13-episodes of Hemlock Grove‘s first season will be available Friday, April 19th exclusively on Netflix.
